New Year’s Challenge

I’m not a big one for resolutions. Sometimes I make them, and sometimes I don’t. Usually they’re along the lines of “eat healthier” or “exercise more.”

But this year, I’m challenging myself to do something more and something different in the fight to protect trans kids and the fight for trans equality. 2023 is going to be a tough year, and I don’t want to get comfortable in my business or in my work with other organizations. I want to keep things new and fresh – sharpen the saw, if you will.

I invite you to join me in doing something new and different to protect trans kids. Maybe for you, this means voting in every election you can this year. Or emailing your state representative about issues that are important to you. Or speaking up at your school board meeting. Or following more trans activists and creators of color on social media. Or if you’re the parent of a trans kiddo, this might mean taking an online course or attending a webinar to learn more about supporting your child.*

Everything counts. Everything matters. We’ve got to stay on our toes, because 2023 will be a roller coaster in state legislatures, the courts, school board meetings, our libraries – you name it.

If we all do a little more, we can make some progress. Here’s wishing you courage, imagination, and peace in 2023.
